The van driver went to turn without looking properly in my view. Yes, the bike was going quickly but if the van driver had been looking, he wouldnt have pulled accross in the manner he did.
Blame lies with both parties, but the van driver was definitely in the wrong

John how can you estimate the speed of a bike going this fast?

I’m a rider myself, for 14 years I ride motorcycles, the fault was from the motorcycle clearly speeding where he shouldn’t, we all do this shit, but we also have to suffer from the consequences when this ends this way. If you decide to go +120mph on a busy road with traffic incoming, it means you are ready to visit the ER. The Van stopped because he saw that the motorcycle was speeding way over, he the rider is living today, it’s because the VAN didn’t made the full turn to left open space for the rider to pass.. The Van saved the rider from a big collision.

I can relate. Back in 1973 I was racing motocross in the open class and was on part of the track that went uphill, looped around and over jump, called the “Lauching Pad” on the downhill side. As I flew over the jump, a guy on the uphill side lost controll of his bike and did an abrupt 90 degree turn through the fence and I “T-boned” him in mid-air. Did a tumble and got run over 3 times. Unconcious for a moment and then up to get the bike off the track and the next thing I knew, unconcious again in the middle of a group of gawkers. I was luckier than you, no broken bones or hospital time.

What an idiot. Also, he would have missed the car had he stuck to the same line, it looks like he was aiming for the car when he drifted over so far.
